Karla Landis

Karla Landis joined The Sports Institute in 2019 and serves as our Associate Director. Karla’s expertise and passion for capacity building through fundraising, strategic partnerships, and community-building is fueled by her deep appreciation of physical activity as a means for healthy living. Prior to joining The Institute, Karla served as the deputy director of the George Pocock Rowing Foundation, a Seattle-based nonprofit dedicated to creating rowing opportunities for youth in the Pacific Northwest. During her 10 years at the Pocock Foundation, Karla led strategic fundraising with a focus on individual philanthropy, and spearheaded the launch and growth of the country’s largest youth rowing outreach initiative. Karla holds a B.S. in Exercise Science and a M.S. in Kinesiology from Western Washington University, where she was inducted into the Hall of Fame (2017) for her accomplishments in rowing. Karla currently serves on the advocacy committee for the King County Play Equity Coalition.
