Dr. Chrisman is a pediatrician, adolescent medicine specialist, physician scientist and Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at the University of Washington. Her work is focused on sports-related concussion, with the goal of making sports safer for youth. She is the primary investigator at the University of Washington for a multi-site study of concussion, co-sponsored by the NCAA and the Department of Defense to describe the natural history of concussion in collegiate athletics. She is also developing online concussion education for coaches, piloting pre-game safety huddles as a means of increasing youth concussion reporting, and using rehabilitative exercise to treat concussion. Her work with the Institute includes studying ways to improve the safety of heading in youth soccer, and developing a national registry of youth with concussion.
