Motivation
Education and training are key to ensure medical personnel are informed on the latest in sports and sport safety. Just as important as what’s being said is how it’s being said. The Sports Institute at UW Medicine recognizes a need for modern, engaging and digestible training videos so medical personnel can keep athletes safe as they play the sports they love.
Approach
With the guidance of experts in medicine and video production, we created The GamePlan, a film series that dives deep on various sports subjects. The films reach a high standard for production quality and even higher standards for evidence and research. This creates the ideal balance of informative and entertaining for medical personnel, coaches, athletic directors, community members and more.
Our GamePlan films are fully donor-funded; donor support makes it possible for us to continue growing this library. Make a gift to support future films.

Where We Are
We released our first film in the series, The GamePlan: Managing On Field Cervical Spine Injuries, in June 2020, followed by The GamePlan: Sideline Assessment for Suspected Concussion in 2022, and are currently in production on the third film, which focuses on head and spine injuries stemming from equestrian accidents. We’re also reviewing topics for potential coverage in future films. Information on our work around spine injury in sport can be found here.
